Who we are

Caring for the spiritual aspect of a person can play a significant part in the healing process. The professionally-trained members of the Spiritual Care department are available to all patients of the hospital and their family members to accompany them in dealing with the spiritual aspects of illness. These can include issues of hope, meaning, grief, guilt, anger, trust and loss amongst others. We can also arrange help with specific religious needs. Our services are available at all times (24/7) through the hospital’s phone locating system or your child's nurse.

Our team

Our team is made up of 4 Spiritual Care professionals, who have training in religious studies and theology, and have experience working with patients of all religious backgrounds, as well as those who do not follow a religious path.  In addition to their university degrees, Spiritual Care professionals have completed clinical training in hospital-settings.  We are committed to an approach that respects the beliefs and practices of each patient and family member.  You can read more about our code of ethics here.

Our services

Spiritual Care professionals are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to patients and families at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.  We offer a compassionate, listening ear to patients and family members in distress.  We can help you continue your religious and spiritual observances in hospital, and can connect you with members of your faith community.  We can also work with you during rituals like prayers, blessings and other services.

Our chapel (room A 02.0045) is always open to everyone for meditation, prayer and quiet reflection.  Services and meditation sessions are held occasionally, as advertised.
