Services offered
(Please note that patients requiring first-line mental health services must be referred to their CLSC. Every CSSS/CLSC has a multidisciplinary mental health team that provides evaluation and intervention.)
Provides specialized (second-line and third-line) and emergency psychiatric services for children and adolescents up to the age of 18 who suffer from a broad range of emotional or behavioral problems.
The hospital-based services consist of the Pediatric Psychiatry Care Program that provides full and partial hospitalization for crisis stabilization and assessment in the inpatient unit. The Consultation Liaison Service offers assessments for patients admitted to the medical and surgical units, and consultation to services providing care to children with serious, chronic disease. The Mental Health Emergency Room Team provides urgent psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention, and liaison with services offered in the community for ongoing follow-up. In addition, a psychiatrist on call covers the Emergency Room on evenings and weekends.
The Outpatient Psychiatry Service consists of specialized clinics in areas such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, anxiety disorders, autism and pervasive developmental disorders, behavioral pediatrics, first episode psychosis, and psychopharmacology. Clinics are staffed by multidisciplinary teams of professionals that include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists. Telehealth services are available on demand.
