Students

The Montreal Children's Hospital is a tertiary care pediatric teaching hospital affiliated with McGillUniversity. It is also the only pediatric facility serving the McGill Réseau Universitaire Intégré Santé (RUIS). In simple terms, this means that the Montreal Children’s Hospital must offer its patients the most advanced care possible to teach the newest, most leading-edge techniques to new generations of healthcare professionals. The MCH constantly pioneers new expertise through research, innovation and sharing of knowledge to meet the ever-changing needs of our young patients.

Part of the commitment to providing children with the best possible care lies in maintaining the high standards of MCH training programs and actively participating in the exchange of expertise between healthcare institutions.

Training extends beyond the Children's medical staff. It occurs every day at all levels of this hospital, from support staff training on cleaning techniques to new volunteers training for a specific task or medical imaging technicians learning about new equipment upgrades. In every case, our training has one simple objective, better care for the children we treat.

Internships

In an effort to protect patient confidentiality and the need to prioritize limited teaching space and teachers’ time for the increasing numbers of McGill students and residents, we do not accept shadowing requests or outside requests for internships.

Internships are reserved for students from CEGEP and university programs in Montreal affiliated with the McGill University Health Centre.

Medical observerships

The McGill Faculty of Medicine does not offer observerships.

The learning experience of the clinical training offered prepares the trainees to provide high-quality medical services to their community, to perform as clinical teachers in an academic environment, as well as allow them to be part of a strong research environment.
