Announcement

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Brouillette has accepted the position as Director of Clinical Research at The Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), effective July 1, 2008.

Bob Brouillette trained in Pediatrics and Neonatology at the St-Louis Children’s Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in the United States. After rising through the ranks to Professor at Northwestern University Medical School, he was recruited to McGill University and the Montreal Children’s Hospital in 1989.

At the Montreal Children’s Hospital he has held important leadership roles as Division Head of Newborn Medicine and of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine.  Bob’s research has focused on apnea and other complex disorders of breathing during sleep and has involved the mentoring of student, resident and fellow level trainees. He directs the Sleep Laboratory and the Jeremy Rill Center for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Respiratory Control Disorders.

Bob has been active within the MUHC clinical research community, most recently serving as Associate Director for Clinical Research at the Research Institute of the MUHC. He has also been involved at the National level with the promotion of pediatric research training through the Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program.

As Director of Clinical Research Bob’s role is to encourage, promote and facilitate clinical research within our pediatric research community. He will have the added challenge of working closely with our adult colleagues as we plan our move to the new MUHC site at the Glen Yards.

We congratulate Dr. Brouillette on his appointment and offer our enthusiastic support for the further development of pediatric clinical research at the MUHC.
