McGill partners with Welcome Hall Mission to launch free dental clinic
MONTREAL - McGill University's Faculty of Dentistry and Welcome Hall Mission invite representatives of the media to attend the Official Opening of the Jim Lund Dental Clinic, to be held on Friday, Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Welcome Hall Mission. Dr. Yves Bolduc, Minister of Health and Social Services, and Heather Munroe-Blum, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill, will participate in the event.
The new permanent clinic is the result of an innovative partnership between a university and a charity organization, the first of its kind in Quebec. The Jim Lund Dental Clinic offers free basic dental care to low-income families, homeless men and women or new immigrants who benefit from Welcome Hall Mission's services. Staffed by McGill dental students and faculty, the clinic builds on the Faculty of Dentistry's outreach initiatives, which include a mobile clinic, low-cost services at the Montreal General Hospital and pediatric dental care at the Montreal Children's Hospital.
