Date: Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Time: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

The Trauma Specialists of the Montreal Children’s Hospital, McGill University Health Centre will be collaborating with the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) - PDQ 9, Côte Saint-Luc Public Security, EMS Ambulance and Harley-Davidson Montreal in a Bike Rodeo and BBQ on Tuesday, July 12th, 2011.  In case of rain, the event is postponed to Thursday, July 14th, 2011.

According to la Société d’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), brain injuries continue to be the main cause of death among cyclists.  Approximately 25% are 15 years of age or younger.  The principal causes of fatal injuries are negligence and inattention on the part of motorists and / or cyclists.

Road safety is a shared responsibility. This important message will be conveyed by all partners during the Bike Rodeo. MCH Trauma will be on site to consult on helmet adjustment and inspection. Children will have the opportunity to check out the police cars, a Harley-Davidson police motorcycle, the public security vehicle and the EMS ambulance.

There will also be a draw for prizes.
