The Montreal Children's Hospital Celebrates Father’s Day

When meeting this father and son team and observing the integrity and values that have been passed down from one generation to the next, it is evident that the apple, indeed, does not fall far from the tree.

Leonard Johnston has been a member of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) family for over 22 years and has worked in various departments in his MUHC career. He currently oversees a team of 14 dedicated staff members as the Section Manager for the Montreal Children’s Hospital Housekeeping division. When asked what he likes most about his job, he replies without hesitation, “I work with a great bunch of people, a caring staff that likes to come to work every day. Everyone is part of a team and works together.”

This sentiment is echoed by his son, Eric, who has been working at the MUHC for the past 11 years and works as a Housekeeping Attendant in the Emergency Department. “The atmosphere here at the MCH is really special; the staff is very caring and compassionate and I really enjoy the interaction with the patients and their families.”

The Johnston family gets together often to celebrate birthdays, special occasions and, without fail, the annual Superbowl party! In his spare time, you can find Leonard working on his pet project, restoring a ’68 Plymouth Satellite to its former glory. Eric, an avid photographer, may be busy capturing special family moments on film. The respect and fondness that is shared between father and son is evident.

Happy Father’s Day to all the special dads out there!
