Halloween is a great moment in a kid’s life. A day when, disguised as super heroes, princesses and monsters, kids treat themselves to sweets and a little magic. Here are some tips to make trick or treating safe.

According to Dr. Dominic Chalut, Director of the Medical Emergency department at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the highest risks for children during Halloween are falls and car accidents. He highly recommends that a responsible adult accompanies the children at all times, especially when they go up and down stairs. Avoiding long costumes is another thing that Dr. Chalut recommends.

Back at home, it’s important to go through the treats to make sure that there are no little toys or objects and that the candies are age-appropriate; this will help to ensure your child doesn’t choke on anything.
