Back to being a toddler

Two-and-a-half year old Olivia has now completely recovered from a serious infection in her back

“One year ago, our little Olivia began complaining of a pain in her lower back ... We came to see a physician in the Emergency Department at the Montreal Children's Hospital. After spending the night in the hospital, we realized that there was something abnormal in her blood test results. Olivia had to undergo an emergency MRI to find out the cause. The diagnosis: spondylitis. Olivia had an abscess in her lower back.

There were several doctors involved in her care initially, especially Dr. Karatzios, an infectious disease specialist. Initially, he thought it would be best to operate to determine the exact nature of the infection, but together, the team to treat it immediately without surgery. Fortunately, I was on maternity leave with my 18-month-old son, so I was able to complete the treatments at home with my two children, thanks to the excellent service provided by Children’s nurses. Today, Olivia is healed and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for curing my child and thank you for your support! I will never forget what you have done for us.”
