Health Canada issued a warning against roman-style and pull up blinds following a massive recall by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Window Covering Safety Council.
The long cords that pull the blinds open and close are long enough to let a child's head and neck in, which could result in and strangulation.
Health-Canada also reminds parents to never put beds, crib and other furniture where children could climb near blinds to avoid access to the cords.
According to the CPSC, 8 deaths and 16 strangulations have been related to blind cords. Safe Kids Canada talks about 27 deaths and 23 injuries.
