The album brings together a number of artists, each performing in their mother tongue, whether it’s French, English, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, Czech, Yiddish or Arabic. They also share something of their cultural heritage with these special stories and songs which people from all over the world draw upon to help their little babies drift off to sleep. The album also includes three original compositions from Jennifer Rose Lapointe, Christine Steele and Christelle Jacquet.
Music therapists throughout the MUHC use the lullabies with their patients. What’s more, all the profits from the album will be used to finance the music therapists’ work at the MUHC. The service, which is greatly appreciated by patients at the MCH, is made entirely possible by donations to the MCH Foundation and the Simple Plan Foundation. The recording of the album was financed by an innovation bursary from the hospital.
Music therapy has been offered at The Montreal Children’s Hospital since 2002. It aims to improve the experience of a child’s hospital stay. Music has the ability to comfort children, reduce their anxiety, help them relax, stimulate their development or even allow them to express their emotions. Thanks to music therapy, hundreds of children have felt better, communicated better, experienced faster rehabilitation or just had a few happy moments during their hospital stay. Purchasing up a copy of Lullabies of the World will provide a generous donation and help this team do its important work.
