The Montreal Children’s Hospital Appoints New Chief of Surgery

January 8, 2007 - Dr. Linda Christmann, Associate Executive Director of The Montreal Children’s Hospital of the MUHC is pleased to announce that Dr. Jean-Pierre Farmer has accepted the position of Chief of Surgery at The Children’s.

Dr. Farmer is a graduate of McGill University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and medical and graduate degrees. He did his post-graduate training in neurosurgery at the MUHC and Jewish General Hospital.

He is currently Associate Dean, Post-graduate Medical Education and Professional Training in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, as well as a professor in the departments of oncology, and neurology and neurosurgery.

In 2001, Dr. Farmer was appointed Director of the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgery, a position he continues to hold.

Dr. Farmer has been a staff neurosurgeon at The Montreal Children’s Hospital since 1990. He also holds positions at both the Shriners Hospital and the Montreal Neurological Hospital.
