On this third day of record heat, local health officials warn that everyone should take precautions to avoid heat stroke and aggravating existing health conditions.
Dr. Harley Eisman of the Montreal Children's Hospital says that children under 3 years of age are at risk of dehydration during periods of extreme heat and humidity.
They are dependent on caregivers for fluids and their bodies do not self-regulate as well to extreme temperatures.
Adolescents are at risk of heat stroke, too, usually because they're active outdoors.
