Health Canada is recalling a motorized toy truck because parts can detach and pose a choking hazard to young children.
The product, Troy the Activity Truck, is also being jointly recalled by its distributor, Infantino LLC of San Diego, Calif., and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The face of the truck features the Infantino logo. The underside of the truck has Infantino's contact information and one of these three model numbers: 153-210, 206-110 or 506-110C.
The brightly coloured plastic toy truck has flexible orange and green tubing, which carries sliding items shaped like stars, circles and hearts. The plastic tubing can detach and release the sliding shapes, which are small enough to pose a choking hazard.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these toys. However, Infantino has received three reports in Canada of the toy breaking and the parts detaching. No injuries were reported.
In the U.S. the CPSC and the company have received 25 similar reports; while no injuries were reported, 15 of the complaints indicated that a child had a detached shape in his or her mouth, and in two cases the child was gagging.
About 1,900 of the recalled products were sold in Canada at various retail stores between September 2009 and February 2011.
Consumers should immediately take the toy away from young children and contact Infantino for instructions on receiving a free replacement toy.
