Hospital’s Trauma and Injury Prevention Website wins a prix Mérites du français
March 25, 2010—Montreal: The Trauma Programs of the Montreal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre proudly accepted a Mérites du français dans les technologies de l'information awarded by l’Office québécois de la langue française during the Soirée des Mérites et Francopub 2010 last night. The Montreal Children’s Hospital received this prestigious award in the category of Website: large company in recognition of its new trauma and injury prevention website www.hopitalpourenfants.com/trauma/fr . These awards celebrate the vitality of the French language on websites, computer programs and multimedia products that have been created in Québec.
“We are honoured to receive this award,” says Debbie Friedman, MCH Trauma Director. “As a tertiary care Trauma Centre we have many areas of expertise such as treating severe multiple injury patients. This includes burn trauma, abdominal, thoracic, and pelvic trauma, spinal cord and other orthopedic injuries, dental injuries and all severities of brain traumas, to name but a few. Because this hospital excels at both treating and preventing injury, we were able to create an easy to read, easy to navigate website that is replete with credible information for teens, parents, coaches and other health professionals."
“The Montreal Children’s Hospital Trauma and Injury Prevention website gives the hospital a chance to expand beyond its four walls allowing us to reach Quebecers living in Gatineau in the west, Chibougamau in the north, Percé in the east and Coaticook in the south and all points in between. The website gives us a chance to inform, educate and provide people with useful information that will hopefully help them remain injury free and thus away from The Montreal Children’s Hospital Trauma Centre,” says Lisa Dutton, Manager of Public Relations and Communications at the MCH.
This is the second Award Mérites du français awarded to The Montreal Children’s Hospital. The hospital was a finalist in the category Les technologies de l’information site internet – grande organization in 2008. This award was issued in recognition of the hospital’s main website www.thechildren.com .
