Staff and health professionals at the Montreal Children's Hospital speak both French and English and nearly 35 interpreters facilitate communication between families and staff in over 40 other languages.
The hospital's Sociocultural Consultation and Interpretation Services (SCIS) [1] provides over 8,000 interpretations every year. The most common requests are from people who speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish and Tamil.
If you and your child cannot speak English or French, or have limited understanding of these languages, SCIS can arrange for an interpreter to meet with you during your child's appointment.
