Clip-on high chair recalled after injuries

A baby chair is being recalled after numerous injuries were reported due to a malfunction.

Health Canada issued a notice on August 19th recalling the “meeto” clip-on chair, manufactured in China for New Zealand company phil&ted's.

The chair can detach from the table or other surface due to worn or missing clamps, posing a risk of falls and injury. In addition, the user instructions are inadequate, the release said.

There have been no reports of injury in Canada, but the company has received 19 reports of the chair falling, including five injuries, in the U.S.

About 5,000 of the chairs were sold in Canada online and at speciality stores.

Consumers are advised to stop using the chair and contact phil&ted's to get a repair kit and revised instructions, toll-free at 1-855-652-9019 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT Monday through Friday. Fore more information on this recall, visit the Health Canada website.
