Three teens die in a head-on collision in St. Hyacinthe

Three teenagers died after a head-on collision in St. Hyacinthe on Tuesday afternoon.

The 16, 17 and 19 year old men were passengers in a vehicle that crashed into an oncoming van on Route 235 at about 4:45 p.m on December 7th. The 17-year-old driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but passed away early Wednesday morning.

The driver of the van suffered minor injuries.

Surete du Quebec officials said the road surface was icy and visibility was poor, and the inexperience of the driver was a factor.

Teen drivers have the highest injury and fatality rates of any age group. If you're the parent of a young driver, you can help protect your teenager by learning about the problem and taking steps to decrease your teenager’s risk of sustaining an injury or dying in a car crash.
