Beware of falls in the bath

A recent study by the Children's Hospital in Colombus found that drowning and burning are not the most common bath accidents.

In the United States an average of 120 visits a day to emergency rooms are due to falls in the bath. Lacerations to the face are the most common injuries.

Here are some recommendations to take while bathing your child:
  • Never leave a child alone in the bath, even if it's for one minute.
  • Install a slip-resistant mat in and outside of the bath.
  • Make sure there are no sharp edges and objects around the bath.
  • Sit your child with his/her back to the faucet.
